A deposit is a blocked amount of funds on the credit card. The deposit for our car hire services consists of a damage waiver with an additional amount for a full tank of fuel, possible parking fines and cleaning fees in case of smoking in the vehicle. The deposit amounts differ and depend on the booked vehicle group.

Pre-authorization is the holding of blocked funds on the client’s credit card during the rental period. The pre-authorized amount is used in case the rental period is extended and if the client returns the vehicle with a lack of fuel or with a parking fine.

The deposit is automatically released within 30 business days after the end of rental. The release of blocked funds depends exclusively on the card’s issuing bank – Avant Car never has access to the blocked funds and has no influence over the duration of this process.

A damage waiver is the maximum amount of liability for a given vehicle (even in cases when damage caused to the vehicle is much higher than this amount), provided that customers adhere to the Avant Car General Terms and Conditions.

The deposit consists of the damage waiver increased by the amount of a full tank of fuel, possible parking fines and cleaning fees in the event of smoking inside the vehicle (strictly prohibited).

We accept credit cards issued by Visa, MasterCard and Diners. Cash or virtual credit cards are not accepted.

Debit Cards for deposits are only accepted if you take our Carefree Full Insurance Package. This lowers the deposit amount to 100 € which are blocked on your card for the duration of the rental. If full insurance is not purchased, a valid credit card in the name of the renter is required along with a full deposit amount which varies between car groups.

The main driver is the person who signs the rental agreement and is solely responsible for the vehicle during the rental period. A customer can use someone else’s credit card only if the credit card holder is present at vehicle pick-up and has a valid driver’s licence and ID card/passport. The credit card holder must be listed on the contract as the main driver.

The “Carefree package” is a full insurance product of Avant Car. It covers all types of damages that are not a result of negligence or driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The deposit for all car groups is lowered to 100.00 EUR.

The “Carefree Package” includes SCDW, WUG, PAI, quicker vehicle return, reduced deposit, and reduced damage waiver to 0 EUR.

SCDW (Super Collision Damage Waiver) is coverage for car body damage – without mechanical parts – and theft of vehicle parts (the coverage only applies to the vehicle, and not the passengers’ luggage).

WUG (Wheels, Undercarriage and Glass) is additional insurance coverage that covers the excess for damages done to the wheels, underside and glass of a vehicle.

PAI (Personal Accident Insurance) covers medical expenses and costs in the event of potential injury or death of the driver and/or passengers during the rental period.

When the renter opts for 3rd party agency insurance and damage occurs during the rental period, the amount for damage is collected directly from the client, regardless of who is responsible for the damage. The renter must then solve the issue directly with the 3rd party agency where insurance was bought. The deposit that is blocked on the renter’s credit card depends on the booked car group and amounts from 700.00 EUR to 1.400 EUR.

With the Avant Car “Carefree Package” full insurance option, all types of damage are covered as long as they did not occur as a result of negligence or driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The deposit amount is also lowered to 100.00 EUR.

The Cross-Border Fee applies when driving our rented car outside the borders of North Macedonia and amounts to 35.00 EUR per country entered. Entry to the following countries is permitted:

– Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia.

(!) Vehicles cannot be driven to any other country not specified in the list above. Entry to prohibited countries is subject to a fine of 625.00 EUR.

The One-way Fee is charged when the pick-up and drop-off locations are different.

From Macedonia it is possible to return the vehicle to the following locations abroad:

  1. Slovenia:Ljubljana, Maribor & Koper,
  2. Croatia:Zagreb, Zadar, Split & Dubrovnik.

The drop box offers the possibility of returning the vehicle outside of business hours of one of our branch offices. The service is free of charge, and the client is responsible for the vehicle until it is inspected.

Our fleet is divided into groups of vehicles of similar sizes and specifications. For this reason we cannot guarantee an exact car model, but only a class/group of vehicles.

These count as services we provide to you during the rental, and their payment is possible only at the pick-up of the vehicle. Additional services are, for instance, the Cross Border Fee, GPS, child/booster seats etc.
